2010 Honoree

Cathy Davis, MSW

Each year Access Institute honors an individual whose life and work has made a significant impact on our community. This year we honor Cathy Davis, MSW, executive director of Bayview Hunter’s Point Multipurpose Senior Services and partner with Access Institute providing culturally appropriate mental health services to seniors in the Bayview neighborhood. Cathy came to Bayview Hunter’s Point in 1978 as a VISTA volunteer. She teamed up with Dr. George W. Davis (1941 – 2010) to bring the first comprehensive senior services to the neighborhood. Together Cathy and Dr. Davis developed innovative, community-based programs that today assure that seniors in Bayview can receive the care they deserve. Cathy spearheaded partnerships that succeeded in developing senior housing, adult day health and the new Aging Campus, which will include housing and extensive senior services. A compassionate and visionary leader, she has been a tireless advocate for senior services locally and statewide. Since 2004, she has partnered with Access Institute to bring high-quality psychological services to the seniors in Bayview Hunter’s Point. We are pleased to honor Cathy’s work and achievements at Spectrum.
